Is it hard to get a job in Boulder, CO?

My boyfriend and I are planning on moving to Boulder, CO from Wisconsin and we're worried about not finding jobs. I am working towards going to graduate school for ecology, but would like to find a job working for the parks or something environmentally related. My boyfriend would like to find a writing job. Can anyone who currently lives in Boulder and knows something about these two fields give us an idea of what the job market is like in Boulder? Also, what is Longmont like?
