Sugar glider questions...?

Two questions. I have a 13 week old male sugar glider and his nails are getting really long and sharp. What's a good way to file them down that doesn't involve trying to hold him still? Also, is it true that nuts and seeds are bad for these little fellas because of the high fat content? Thanks!
